How it works
- Pick the country and the route. Both come from lists fed by the rule data, so the register asks only for what that route asks for.
- Add each person in the line. A marriage adds a marriage certificate; a naturalisation abroad adds its record and a date check.
- Work through the register. Request, receive, apostille, translate, check. Hanlon on one record and Hanlan on the next shows up as a mismatch.
- Print the missing list, and the document index when you file.
Countries and routes
45 rules, each with its source, edition and the day it was read. Rules we could not confirm at a primary source are shown as settings to check, never as facts.
Family data never leaves this browser
Names, dates, places and references are stored only in this browser. There is no account and nothing is uploaded; documents themselves are never stored, only where the paper is.
What it is not
- Not legal advice and not an application service. It does not decide whether you qualify and it files nothing.
- Not an official form. Every printout is our own layout.
- Not a family tree. It holds only the line your claim runs through.
- Rootdossier is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government, consulate, embassy, ministry, court or law firm, including the German, Irish, Polish, Canadian and Italian authorities that decide citizenship cases.
